Aggregate Quarries – Sand and Gravel

No commercial sand and gravel is obtained from the Your Dales Rocks Project Area, as the extensive superficial deposits in the Vale of York provide North Yorkshire’s main source of sand and gravel. The production of sand and gravel has decreased from 2.8 million tonnes in 2004 to 1.7 million tonnes in 2011 with production centred on six quarries mainly in the north and centre of the Vale of York.

Details of the active quarries in the NYGP area may be downloaded here.
