Quarries

Over the centuries quarrying has helped our understanding of geology by exposing buried formations, and through research. Active and disused quarries play a significant role in the geodiversity of the North Yorkshire Geodiversity Partnership Area providing some of the most important, and several unique, sites at which rare rock units and features may be seen.
